The invasion of Ukraine is shocking and abhorrent. Our thoughts are with those impacted by this unprovoked attack, particularly for those of our members in and from Ukraine, but also for those in Russia, Belarus, and beyond, who are appalled by this act of military aggression.
As a diverse digital community with members spanning across the globe, we ask our members to continue to respect and support each other at this difficult time. There is no place for bullying and harassment at the IAMA. If you see this behaviour, report it to our moderators. A lot of people will say that 2021 was a mere sequel to the disastrous year of 2020 (and there certainly is some truth in that), but here at the IAMA, we believe it's fair to say that we've adapted pretty well and grew stronger as an association.
Most notably, the past year saw the successful implementation of the structrual reforms of 2020, allowing us to operate with greater efficency and granting us the space to make long-term plans for the future. For example, the Board is currently working to simplify and streamline operations, such as the Weeky Showcase programme. Separately, after years of delays and deliberation, we can now confirm that the construction of Townsquare - formerly Scatter and the IAMA Collaborative Project - has been transferred to Antares BT, since all of its core members are also in Antares. Consequently, the Board will move to close the IAMA BT and focus our operations on our online forum. Looking ahead, we believe the above changes, which we plan to officialise in the coming year, will make the operation of the association simplier and more efficient. Last but not least, a very Merry Christmas and a happy new year from the IAMA. The Board of Directors has made the decision to streamline the submission process and format of the IAMA's long-running Weekly Showcase programme.
The decision comes as part of a wider effort to update the Association's management style such that it would be more consistent and standardised across the board to allow for smoother operations in the long term. Effective from Sunday 28 November, all IAMA Weekly Showcase posts will be written in the following format. #IAMAWeeklyShowcase: week [week number] Submitted by: [author] [Optional external link or a maximum 60-character user submitted description] This new format will be trialed for a period of one month, during which the Board of Directors will determine whether or not to make the change permenant by writing it into the Association's governing charter. The IAMA is turning five!
Half a decade ago, our founders came together in the spirit of cooperation and built a close-knit community of Minecraft architects. Half a decade on, this same spirit continues to guide us in our every endeavour. It goes without saying that none of this would have been possible without each and every one of your continued support. And so, from the bottom of our hearts, thank you for being part of this amazing journey. ❤️ To commemorate this occasion, we're revisiting a nostalgic classic: Avrin's NBD, with a high-tech, RTX-powered twist that offers a glimpse of the bright future that lies ahead of us! Needless to say, 2020 has been a bizarre year for us and for everyone else - but we pressed ahead nonetheless the best we could.
As much as we were shocked by a global pandemic, we were able to hold our very first community competition - #SocialBuildstancing - last April, which - albeit the limited prize pool - was a considerable success. Many thanks to those who participated and, of course, our judges: Kae, Landy, MinecraftRepro, NickMiao0928, and NXUS! We've also finalised the structural reforms of last year and extended it to our build team, which we now treat as an equal arm to the Forum. This also includes a clarification of the roles of the Board of Directors - formerly the Executive Council - and the Moderation Team, as well as a strengthening of basis of our rules-based Forum, the Code of Conduct. Unfortunately - coupled with the impacts of Covid uncertainty - we've experienced further delays to our Build Team's maiden project, Townsquare (formerly Scatter), although we're glad to report that the project is over halfway complete. We're now entering the final stages of stringing together the plots with roads, highways, and bridges! Lastly, a very Merry Christmas, and a happy new year from the IAMA. The IAMA turns four today!
Every year, we thank those who have supported us - and this year will be no different. We are incredibly grateful for your continued support. Thank you for being part of our vibrant community of Minecraft architects. ❤️ To commemorate this special occasion, we're excited to announce the opening of our latest virtual offices at the City of Democratia in Project Peaceland! We're excited to announce that we'll be holding a build contest named #SocialBuildstance amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, as a reminder of the absolute importance of social responsibility, which manifests in practising social distancing, keeping our hands clean, and respecting the medical workers around us. You can participate in this contest by submitting a build that carries a positive, uniting message in this trying period.
There will be a prize of a $25 USD Google Play gift card for the winner, and $5 USD iTunes/ Google Play gift cards for our first and second runner ups. Top five builds will be showcased across the Association's platforms! [update] Submissions are now open! Click here to submit your entry directly, or alternatively visit our Events page! More details to be found there. We're glad to announce four changes we've made to the Charter earlier today. These include
As a treat to any grammar police out there, we've also run it through a grammar check with Grammarly® for the first time - turns out we missed quite a few mistakes in the previous versions, so apologies for that! We've also updated the #rules channel on our Discord Forums (at last) to reflect the changes made in this update, so to avoid confusion and hopefully make everyone's lives easier. Check out the latest version today in our archives page! The IAMA wishes everyone a Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year!
What we have done in 2019 was no less significant than the previous years. At the beginning of the year, we successfully brought about the new structural reforms, transforming our association from a fictional inter-governmental alliance to a public forum. It has now become one that fosters greater interaction and collaboration and between various Minecraft architects, regardless of their background. We’ve also seen great progress for our Build Team’s maiden project, Scatter, despite some delays. The BT has been productive throughout the year, meticulously carrying out terraforming works and spending long hours developing each of their plots. While no plan is perfect and there were challenges faced along the way, the BT worked diligently to iron them out. |
